Does anyone else feel like they have a never ending wish list of things you want to add to your home?! One of the joys of homeownership!

When we moved house last year, we found ourselves living in a house with significantly more rooms than we were used to in our rented place. 

This was obviously very exciting, but also means that over a year later, we’re still working out what furniture we need to finish off each room.

The decor was definitely not to our taste at all when we first moved so I spent most of last year redecorating – if you need any tips on how to strip wallpaper and repaint, I’m your girl.

Fortunately, we’re now at the point where pretty much every room has been painted in our calming, neutral blue and grey colour scheme, and the bulk of the furniture is in (essentials like sofas, chairs, tables, beds etc).

But next up is the bits that make it feel less like a house and more like our home. Think sideboards, display cabinets, wall art, ornaments, lamps and other miscellaneous lovely house things that always cost more than you think!

We had planned to host our immediate family at our house last year but our plans were somewhat scuppered with Covid restrictions. We were lucky to be able to see our family on Christmas Day, but we didn’t get the full Christmas experience we’d planned.

So this year is round 2, and it’s my 2nd chance to get the house looking the way I want it to! Here are some of the things I’ve got my eye on to get our home ready for the festive season.

On order: We do already have some pieces of furniture on order and I’m excited for these to arrive! I think they’re really going to help with organisation and seating arrangements when we have a full house:
