Our current morning routine 🌅

Usually baby girl starts to stir at about 5am so I go and settle her a few times until it gets to the official start of the day between 6:30am and 7am ⏰

Then I take the blackout blind down, wake her up, enjoy lots of smiles and change her into her outfit for the day.

Next it’s downstairs for a nice big breakfast (for her, not me) and some playtime on the mat and/or nursery rhymes until she’s tired and ready for nap 1 of the day (usually 7:30-8am) 💤

She’ll then nap for up to an hour, so this is my key time in the day to get ready. If I decide to nap during this time, I know I’m sacrificing my shower and skincare/makeup routine! So usually I’ll jump straight into the shower, get dressed, do my hair and makeup and put my jewellery on. This part of my day has been really important for me to maintain so I feel like myself and feel ready to face whatever the day throws at me!

Then by the time I’ve done this, scrolled on my phone for a bit and had a quick check in with work, the tiny human is usually stirring and it’s time for us to get on with the rest of the day 🤗

I used to think the idea of having a uniform was so boring… 🙄

Until I had a baby and realised that ‘what should I wear’ is just another decision I don’t want to make every day 🫠

Even before having a baby, I would sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the decisions to be made at work, around the house and in my personal life.

Throw another (helpless) human into the mix and you reach a whole new level of decision fatigue.

I’ve been working hard to whittle down my wardrobe to only include things I really enjoy wearing and that work for my fourth trimester body 🤗

This is one of my go-to outfits at the moment and it fits well into one of my current uniforms:
- fitted tank top
- leggings
- cardi
- trainers
- crossbody bag

And of course keeping the accessories simple: sunglasses and a nice pair of earrings pull pretty much any outfit together!

Sunday strolls 💚

I’m still getting used to being a family of three and having to plan to get out of the house more in advance.

Sundays used to be the two of us chilling out at home but now there’s another member of the family we try to get out and do something that’s fun for all three of us 🤗

Today I donned my standard Mum uniform and we headed out to a local wood to get some fresh air and show our daughter a new place. She absolutely loved riding over the bumpy terrain and looking up at the trees 🌳

There’s also something amazing about discovering the world again through your child’s eyes. It gives you a whole new perspective on things you used to take for granted 🥰

Just not the super glamorous kind, more like the new Mum staying at home on a gloomy Saturday kind 😅

The best thing I read recently was that black leggings definitely can count as trousers so I am leaning into this trend hard 🖤

These are still my favourites since discovering them when I was pregnant. They’re thick enough to work as an alternative to trousers, they had incredible stretch right up until I gave birth and they have miraculously returned to standard size for me to wear postpartum. Amazing.

Had to give the ice cream dress a space on the grid this summer 🍦

This was a totally risky purchase I made when I was about 8 months pregnant 😅

But I was feeling fed up and needed something to look forward to post-birth. It could have backfired as this dress is fitted and I had no idea what my postpartum body would look like but it turns out this is a very forgiving dress!

And I also don’t feel at all bad about the lumps and bumps I have right now. I see a lot of new Mums on here talking about how we should embrace our new shapes after giving birth and I wholeheartedly agree!

I’m still not over the fact that I grew an entire human in my actual body (and I probably never will get over this). It’s amazing and I don’t mind having to take some time to rethink my wardrobe after producing a tiny human 🤗
