Easy Sweet Pancake Topping Ideas For An Epic Pancake Day

I know some people are totally not bothered by Pancake Day, but it’s one of my favourite holidays… I have a super sweet tooth so it’s the perfect excuse for me to eat a stack of pancakes with my favourite toppings for dinner. Now let’s be honest, you can pretty much get away with any toppings on a pancake (including savoury), but in this post I want to inspire you with some easy sweet pancake topping ideas for Pancake Day.

Lemon and sugar

Let’s start with a classic – you really can’t go wrong with lemon and sugar. Use freshly squeezed lemons for the best tasting classic pancakes.

Nutella

Obviously top of my list. Nutella is one of my go-to breakfast spreads and it’s delicious on pancakes. Spread Nutella over the whole crepe and then fold it so you’ve got a delicious, easy-to-eat chocolatey parcel.

Nutella and vanilla ice cream

If you want something a bit more decadent, why not add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream to your Nutella pancake? Top tip: I’d recommend eating this with a knife and fork!

Strawberries and cream

Spring feels like it’s just around the corner, which means summer is only a few months behind. If chocolate isn’t really your thing, how about a lighter strawberries and cream pancake to get you in the mood for sunnier days.

Bananas, cream and chocolate sauce

Basically a banana split in a pancake. Banana slices, whipped cream and chocolate sauce is certainly one way to get in one of your five a day. You can also substitute chocolate sauce for Nutella if you prefer.

Berries and maple syrup

Berries are like nature’s sweets and they’re perfect for pancakes. Combine raspberries and blueberries with a healthy glug of maple syrup for a sweet sensation.

Pear, whipped cream and chocolate sauce

This is a classic Poire Belle-Hélène recipe. All you need to do is slice some pears then add whipped cream and chocolate sauce. So yummy!

Blueberries and honey

If maple syrup isn’t your thing, honey is another great sweet option. Drizzle runny honey over blueberries for a simple but delicious pancake topping.

Strawberries and chocolate sauce

Finally, I couldn’t leave this one off! Following on from strawberries dipped in chocolate for Valentine’s Day, keep the food love going for Pancake Day with sliced strawberries and a drizzle of your favourite chocolate sauce.
